For those of you who haven't heard, Carroll Shelby passed away in Texas recently. He has been ill for several months and recently was transferred to Baylor Hospital in Texas. Carroll was 89 years old and, among all his other accomplishments in the automotive industry, was the longest living Heart Transplant recipient in the world.

I've known Carroll for a very long time, and as you all probably know. Carroll has a soft spot for all of us at the Orange County Cobra Club, having attended many of our Christmas Parties over the years. He often remarked to me how great our club was and how much he enjoyed spending time with "Car Guys and Gals" who treated him just as a "Car Guy". Our Christmas party was the only private holiday party that he and Cleo ever attended, so it was really something special. As you know, he wasn't feeling well at our 2011 event and when I talked with him shortly afterward he told me how sad he was that he couldn't be with us---he told me, in his Texas drawl---"Tell everyone I love'em and I look forward to seeing everyone soon".

Carroll, we loved you too-----Your legacy will live forever! God rest your soul.
